Game

  • Fans and players are going up against the Winter Storm Demi in Philadelphia.
  • The Texans, Chiefs, Ravens and Bills must deal with temperatures in the teens and 20s during their games.
  • Temperatures will be significantly warmer than last year’s playoff game in Kansas City.

The NFL divisional playoffs are set for this weekend, and the weather is sure to be a player in each of the outdoor games. The Rams and Eagles will clash with Winter Storm Demi, while some of the coldest air of the season will account for the other two outdoor games.

Here’s how each of the games this weekend will be affected by the weather:

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs (Saturday, 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff)

  • Temperatures: Falling through the low 20s
  • Wind: 10-15 mph out of the NNW; Wind gusts up to 25 mph
  • Wind chill: 9-12 degrees
  • While snow won’t be a problem, you’ll want to wear multiple layers to combat the wind and cold temperatures. This will feel several dozen degrees hotter than last year’s amputation-necessary playoff game in Kansas City this time last year.

Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday 3 p.m. ET kickoff)

  • Temperatures: Hovering near freezing
  • Wind: 10-15 mph out of the NW; Wind gusts up to 25 mph
  • Wind chill: Low to mid 20s
  • Of all the divisional games this weekend, this one will have the biggest impact from the weather. Winter Storm Demi will move through the eastern seaboard with snow. Several centimeters of snow may fall during the game, and more than three centimeters is expected overall during the duration of the storm. Visibility and field traction can become problems if snow bands hit during the game.

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills (Sunday 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff)

  • Temperatures: Mid to upper teens
  • Wind: Light and variable, but generally out of the north or northwest
  • Wind chill: 8-12 degrees
  • If you’re switching from Sunday’s first playoff game (in Philly) to this next one, you might be disappointed by the weather in this second game. Some showers will be possible, but this snow should be lighter and drier than in Philadelphia. If you are going to the play, take several layers and some mittens for the cold.

If you are interested in the Washington Commanders at the Detroit Lions game on Saturday, their game will take place in an indoor stadium, Ford Field. Temperatures outside will be in the mid-20s.
