The highly anticipated title fight rematch between defending lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and Arman Tsarukyan is set to take place this weekend as the main event at UFC 311 in Inglewood, California, despite the ongoing wildfire crisis in Los Angeles.

The event was confirmed as still on track to continue at Intuit Dome in Inglewood by UFC CEO Dana White in an update Wednesday afternoon.

The card is headlined by Makhachev and Tsarukyan’s second bout, following the pair’s first meeting in 2019 on a Fight Night ticket in St. Petersburg, Russia. In that bout, Makhachev claimed a competitive decision victory over then-rookie Tsarukyan, who had made his UFC debut at the age of 22.

Both fighters have gone from strength to strength since that meeting, where Makhachev claimed the UFC lightweight title and successfully defended the belt three times, while Tsarukyan is currently 9-1 since his previous loss to Makhachev.

In the US, if you want to watch UFC 311, fight night will only be on pay-per-view through ESPN Plus. The cost structure is a bit confusing, but here are the options to watch UFC on ESPN, according to ESPN website:

  • Existing annual ESPN Plus subscribers can order the upcoming UFC card for $80.
  • New ESPN Plus subscribers can purchase a bundle of the UFC 311 PPV event (streaming in HD) and an ESPN Plus annual recurring subscription for $135. This is a decent deal. How to watch UFC 311 online from anywhere using a VPN

If you cannot watch UFC 311 locally due to improperly applied blackout restrictionsyou might need another way to watch the match, and that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from throttling your speeds on game night by encrypting your traffic, plus it’s a good idea when you’re on the road and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you’ll add an extra layer of privacy to your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you are able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to access the matchup. So if your ISP or mobile provider has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, non-blackout area . Most VPNs, like ours Editor’s Choice, ExpressVPNmakes it really easy to do this.

It’s legal to use a VPN to watch or stream sports in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. Make sure your VPN is set up properly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing properly applied blackout restrictions.

Quick tips for streaming UFC 311 using a VPN

  • With four variables at play – your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN – your experience and success streaming UFC 311 may vary.
  • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using “search by city or country”.
  • If you’re having trouble getting into battle after turning on your VPN and setting it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log in to your streaming service subscription account and ensure that the address registered to the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address registered to your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you use (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network will now appear in the correct display location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main page to quickly install the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you will be asked to confirm a numeric code or click on a link sent to your email address registered with your smart- television. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help as both devices appear to be in the right location.
  • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so make sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We usually recommend Brave.
