Twamley strengthens Glovers’ attack – Gloverscast

Yeovil Town have signed Lewis Twamley from Southern League Premier Division South side Merthyr Town until the summer of 2026.

The 21-year-old has scored 15 times in 21 games for the South Wales club this season, having joined the club following his release from League Two Newport County in September 2023.

speaks to the club’s YouTube channelhe said: “I feel like this is the right move for me in my career now, obviously I’m going up two leagues, but I feel like I’m ready for the change. I trained this morning with the boys and they welcomed me.

I did two years at Newport and it didn’t really go to plan, I went out on loan twice (to Salisbury and Pontypridd) which didn’t really go to plan either, but I got to Merythr and I found a home. I’ve had a really good season this season and I hope to continue my form here.

I got my promotion back up because of my form, 15 goals and 21 assists I think that’s it and I just can’t wait to get going here now. I like to get fans on their feet, I’m quite a difficult player, left-footed, I like to get the ball in the half and beat players, but I pride myself on goals and assists.

He arrives to join a forward line including loanees Ciaran McGuckin, Sean McGurk and Kofi Shaw as well as permanent players Aaron Jarvis, Frank Nouble and Harvey Greenslade. The Glovers face Gateshead in the National League Premier Division at Huish Park on Friday night.

The Welshman joined his hometown team, Cardiff City, at the age of just six years old, before moving on to Newport as a teenager and making three Papa John’s Trophy appearances in the 2020-21 season. His only other appearance for Newport came off the bench in the same competition at home to Arsenal U21s the following season.
