Yes, apparently it was Keanu in last night’s Severance

Renowned voice actor Keanu Reeves – you may know him as the voice of The Angry Hedgehog Who Owns A Gun in recent Sonic the Hedgehog 3– popped up unexpectedly on people’s radars last night. So yes: If you watched Apple TV+ Resignationand found yourself asking, “Wait, is that…?” While watching the stop-motion “Macrodat Uprising” video that Mark and his fellow Innies are forced to watch as part of their re-introduction to the show’s dystopian world, you weren’t just slowly being driven mad by your eternally divided existence. It really seems to have been Keanu Reeves as the talking building.

Collider spoke briefly with series creator Dan Erickson about the surprise cameofor a sequence that was apparently the very first thing shot for the new season. (It is per the official one Resignation podcastwhere you can hear Ben Stiller get sidetracked with one very long plot description of The year without a Santa while describing the plans for the short.) Erickson wouldn’t directly answer who else had been considered for the standout cameo, but confirmed that “All I can say is that we talked about a few different people for the role. We always wanted it to be someone that people have certain associations with, but it also had to be a very warm presence. The Lumon building is very friendly in this video, and there’s a friendliness to it vote and a heart for that special voice.” (No word on whether similar consideration was given to the casting of SNLis Sarah Sherman as the talking water tower.)

Reeves has gotten more into the world of voice acting in recent years, possibly in deference to his poor, brutalized-by-a-life-of-kicking-and-sliding-knees; he previously had a notable voice role in Toy Story 4and gave a colossal performance in the video game Cyberpunk 2077.
