Word analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

CLAIM seemed like a good guess, but it wasn’t. At all. There were 655 words left and I had five gray boxes staring back at me. SPORE cut this down to just 33 and gave me three yellow boxes to work with. I thought RODEO was a good guess as it would test a few different placements of the ‘O’ and sure enough there were only three words left. I chose ROWER because I was about to go to an OrangeTheory class and we do a lot of rowing in there! Lucky for me, it was Wordle!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 0 points for guessing four and, much to my surprise, 1 point for beating the Bot! Wordle Bot took 5 attempts today, which is rare.

How to play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 point; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent, you get 1 point. If you stand straight, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or play for a new score every day.
  • Friday is 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running account or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “tube” derives from the Old English word “rōwan,” which means “to row” (as in using oars to propel a boat). This is derived from the Proto-Germanic root *“beet-“ and ultimately from the Proto-Indo-European root *“is-“ or “*erə-“importance “to move” or “to flow.” The ending “-is” was added in English to form the agent noun denoting a person who reaches.
