What will this weekend look like?

Time line

Saturday will be the warmest of the next seven days, according to Osterberg, with temperatures rising into the low to mid-70s. Conditions should be mild and breezy for the Gasparilla Children’s Parade in Tampa.

Osterberg says a wind shift back to the south will be the catalyst for the higher temperatures.

Winds will shift back to the south this weekend, allowing for a brief warm-up.

Sunday will be a wet day, however, with a series of cold rain and storms arriving in the morning and lasting several hours.

“I don’t think it’s just going to continue,” Osterberg said of Sunday’s rain. “It’s going to take its sweet time, so I don’t think Sunday will be the big day. We’re going to have some cloud cover, some showers and maybe some thunderstorms.”

Big chill coming again

By the numbers

On Monday, the cold air returns with highs remaining in the 50s and lows dropping into the 30s Tuesday and Wednesday morning. There is a possibility of freezing temperatures in our northern zones.

Along with the cold, Osterberg says another disturbance will move across the Gulf on Tuesday, which could bring heavy rain to the Bay Area from Tuesday into Wednesday.

Snow possible in Florida

What we know

The same disturbance that could bring heavy, cold rain to the Bay Area on Tuesday has a chance to produce snow or at least sleet in parts of Florida Panhandle.

“It’s a possibility. Not a probability — a possibility,” Osterberg said.

Local perspective

As of Friday, there is no snow forecast anywhere in Central Florida, including the Tampa Bay area.
