What you need to know, A-List customers (January 2025 update)

Netflix has saved several series, e.g You, Lucifer and Manifestogiving them life when other networks could not sustain the startup. However, these pleasantly zombified series couldn’t hold a candle to the mania surrounding Netflix’s Summer Of Suitswhich motivated NBCUniversal to invest in a spin-off, Suits: LAcoming soon on NBC.

Just a few years ago, this was a development that no one expected and has potentially opened the door to the revival of several so-called “Blue Sky” series such as White collar. A formal green light has yet to arrive for a Matt Bomer revisit, and NBCUniversal is likely waiting to see how Suits: LA ticket prices before the floodgates open, so let’s get down to what’s in store for the West Coast version of an enduringly popular legal drama.

Cast

The spin-off’s firm, Black Lane Law, specializes in entertainment and criminal litigation and is led by former New Yorker Ted Black, portrayed by Stephen Amell (Heels). According to showrunner Aaron Korsch (speaks to Weekly entertainment), this series will deviate from Suits on favoring a leading man: “The original Suits was a double lead show with Harvey and Mike, and this is a single lead with an ensemble.” However, Ted will receive strong support from Stuart Lane (Josh McDermitt, The Walking Dead), a criminal law expert, with whom he founded Black Lane Law 15 years ago.

Other prominent characters include rival protégés Erica Rollins (Lex Scott Davis) and Rick Dodson (Bryan Greenberg), and you can see a photo of the core quartet together on Weekly entertainment. Additional cast members include Kevin Weistman, Rachelle Goulding, Alice Lee and Victoria Justice.

Since this is a Los Angeles-based series, there are plenty of options for the celebrity clientele. Or does it? The original series featured Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). waving around Michael Jordan as a customer, although His Airness never appeared on the show, which nevertheless managed to catch on Charles Barkley and Michael Phelpsstrain the meat.

Similarly, we can expect famous names to be dropped by Ted Black. These include Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Tom Hanks. Especially Denzel Washington (according to Collider) has given permission for his image to be used in the series, and Amell hopes it will turn into a real appearance: “Denzel, open invitation (to cameo), you heard this first… (Washington gives permission to (using his likeness) is a good sign, but I think (the jump from) photo to cameo is a stretch.”

A (sad) surety for a celebrity cameo: late veteran actor John Amos’s last role on screen aired in the first season.

Additionally, a special three-episode appearance will arrive from Gabriel Macht, who will reprise his Harvey Specter role. companion Suits so is veteran Wendell Pierce shoots hard cameo as Robert Zane, although no confirmation has yet surfaced. And why is Harvey coming to visit? It’s part of the plot.

Ground

When Suits: LA begins, the Black Lane Law will be at a “breaking point”. Like Aaron Korsch revealed to EWBlack “fights as a leader” and “he can get so driven and so focused on what’s in front of him or the next fight to win that he loses sight of his relationships with the people closest to him and that’s what really manifests in the pilot.” Disagreements over the company’s legacy will cause intense conflict between Ted Stuart and it appears that Ted is the problem, Korsch says: “Ted doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with their relationship at all – I think Stuart might disagree .”

That remark is reminiscent of a troubled marriage, and to work with that analogy, some counseling may be necessary. Who is best at performing that magic? Seam Deadline first reportedMacht was more than willing to slip into Harvey’s shoes, and as Macht wrote on Instagram: “When an old friend is in need… it’s time to take care of things and fix those very ‘things’.”

Stephen Amell appeared in Macht’s Instagram comments to complete the picture: “The bat signal is working!!” And NBC’s synopsis agrees:

Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself as the representative of the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His company is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he has despised his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a fantastic cast of characters who test their loyalty to both Ted and each other, while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this takes place as events from years ago slowly unravel that caused Ted to leave everything and everyone he loved behind.
