Chino Huerta scores goal on Anderlecht debut

César “Chino” Huerta ensured his Anderlecht debut would be one to remember.

The Mexico international scored off the bench in his first appearance for the Belgian side and helped his new side secure a 2-0 win in Kortrijk on Sunday.

Huerta joined Anderlecht last week in a reported $2.5 million transfer from Pumas. He came on the bench for the first time in Thursday’s Belgian Cup win over Antwerp, but did not see the pitch.

On Sunday, Huerta made the bench again, but this time the 24-year-old was introduced in the 71st minute, replacing goalscorer Thorgan Hazard with Anderlecht a goal down and a man down after a Kortrijk red card.

Huerta put the game away in second-half stoppage time when Nilson Angulo made a storming run down the right flank. The Ecuador international crossed to the back post where Huerta was there to tap home from close range.

With the win, Anderlecht moved into fourth place in the Belgian Pro League table, 12 points behind first place Genk.
