Not too long ago, Rob Gronkowski revealed that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow actually recruited him to come out of retirement and join the team.

Now it looks like we’re getting the JJ Watt version of that story.

Watt took to social media at the weekend to reveal he had made a specific bet with Burnley FC goalkeeper James Trafford.

In short, Watt made a bet at Trafford on 28 December that if he didn’t concede another goal for the rest of the season, Watt would retire to play for The Bengals.

Since that bet? Burnley have conceded zero goals over five games, including two penalties saved during Trafford’s last game.

Watt, who is part owner of Burnley, posted a caption that says it all:

The Bengals adding Watt to pair with Trey Hendrickson would be wild and go a long way toward solving one of the defense’s biggest problems.

But time for a reality check — Trafford will have to hold up their end of the bargain until the end of their season on May 3.

In other news, there are suddenly quite a few new Burnley fans in the greater Cincinnati area.
