Donald Trump’s inauguration

This Queen Ann-style mansion has been home to vice presidents since the 1970s.
Reports claimed that Kamala Harris had not extended any invitation to a formal sit-down or tour to the Vances. In November, Usha Vance contacted the staff of second husband Doug Emhoff seeking details about the house — about ways to childproof it, since all three of Vance’s children are under the age of eight.

The request was initially resisted by a political appointee of Kamala Harris, a CBS report said. But then there was communication between Vance’s team and the Navy overseeing the residence. Usha Vance spoke with Doug Emhoff for about 40 minutes. The report said child protection arrangements already started under Harris’ watch.
Also for Harris, the transition in 2021 was messy, and Donald Trump did not acknowledge the electoral defeat and continued to claim that the election was stolen. Kamala Harris, it was reported, was also not given a tour of the VO house, although Mike Pence’s staff said Kamala Harris was secretly given an invitation without Donald Trump’s knowledge.
When JD Vance arrived at the White House, he was seen waiting for Usha to get out of the car, while Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff were also waiting. Then they greeted each other and posed for a photograph with JD Vance standing next to Kamala Harris and Usha Vance next to Doug Emhoff.
