Justin Edwards shines in NBA breakout game with 76ers

Rookie forward Justin Edwards had the best game of his young NBA career Tuesday night, showing off the talent that made him a highly anticipated player coming into the league.

Although the effort wasn’t enough to secure a victory like his Philadelphia 76ers fell 118-102 to Shai Gilgeous-Alexand (32 points) and the Oklahoma City Thunder, Edwards’ performance was a silver lining for his team.

Edwards played 35 minutes and scored 25 points on an efficient 9-of-16 shooting from the field (56.3%) and knocked down four of his nine attempts from beyond the arc (44.4%). He also contributed six rebounds, four assists and a steal, demonstrating his ability to impact the game in multiple ways. Edwards was also effective at the free throw line, converting 3-of-4 attempts (75.0%).

His ability to contribute on the boards and facilitate for his teammates further underscored his potential as a dynamic two-way player in the league.
