Epic video of the entire M&T Bank Stadium chanting “HEY, YOU SUCK!” That The Steelers is why this rivalry is the best

HELLO! YOU SUCK!

What an epic song to end an epic night. For those who don’t know, this is an old (mostly extinct) Terps basketball tradition from back in their glory days in the ACC. The band would play it and Cole Field House would go NUTS. Absolutely brilliant play by the Ravens gameday crew to throw this song on and let the fans take it from there. They didn’t miss a beat.

Imagine being a Steeler or Steelers fan in the bank at that moment. A few weeks ago you were riding high and living life under the delusion that your football team could actually go places in the postseason. The fraud was exposed bit by bit in the weeks that followed, including a bust in the same building just 3 weeks before. And now it’s postseason time, and the chickens have come home to roost. The Ravens shoved it down your throat in such a disrespectful and insulting way for 58 minutes and all your fears have been realized. It was obvious after a drive. It was clear after a quarter of an hour. It was clear at halftime. And every step of the way, you knew deep down that your team just didn’t have it, and now you just have to sit in it and take a beating. You’re praying for the clock to strike zero just so you can get out of that prison and for God’s sake just make it stop. And you’re sooo close to the finish line… and then 70,000 deep just tells you EXACTLY what millions watching at home also know. You, and I cannot stress this enough, suck.

I love this rivalry. Pendulums swing, and the Steelers have certainly beaten us in their fair share. But I’m not sure there’s been such a throttle on a stage like this. The Polamalu pick 6 is as close as it gets, and it was certainly soul-crushing for us to be a drive away from a rookie Flacco going to the Super Bowl, but that’s kind of the point. Hope was taken from us that night…but there was no hope for Pittsburgh on Saturday night. Absolute squashing. And while the Ravens definitely have higher hopes than what they accomplished Saturday night, if they’re able to get it done, this moment will be a really good part of the journey.
