Look at it. We are already well over half way here in January, and time, as usual, waits for no one. We just have to do our best to keep up. It’s not easy! Anyway, I’m back at the helm of our NYT Mini Crossword Guides again, having taken over from my colleagues Paul Tassi and Kris Holt. We rotate, you see, and I’ve just been handed the baton. Let’s solve today’s!

NYT Mini is a smaller, faster, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its bigger sibling, it’s free to play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or in the app, although you have to use the app to handle the archive.

This was a bit of a tricky Mini Crossword, although some of it was stuff I knew straight away. I remembered the Will & Harper Netflix documentary so it popped in nicely. I guessed OLDER and new TIM for BURTON. From here it was just a matter of jumping back and forth. SOBER was easy enough for 9-DOWN. I always have the most trouble with combined words like 11-Across, even though it’s only three letters. IGO is just not something I naturally think of. It took me 2:01 today.
