Former US presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy hinted at running for Ohio governor after reports he was already planning his formal bid.
A parody account of Ramaswamy, announced his “bid for governor” in a post on X. “I am officially announcing my candidacy for Governor of Ohio. I am ready to lead with vision, integrity and a commitment to meet the needs of every Ohioan.

Reacting to the “announcement”, Ramaswamy seemed to agree with the idea. “Note – the below is a parody account. (It’s not a bad idea though),” he said.

Currently tapped to co-head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Elon Musk, pending confirmation, Ramaswamy is already planning his bid for governor, according to Washington Post sources. An Ohio insider familiar with Ramaswamy’s strategy, who spoke anonymously to the Washington Post, openly discussed the former presidential candidate’s plans, saying, “Vivek’s basic plan remains (the) same: to get results at DOGE and then announce a run for governor soon time.”
Ramaswamy had also reportedly been eyed for a replacement JD Vance on Ohio Senate seatwith the support of Trump. Vance officially resigned Friday to serve as Trump’s vice president. Under Ohio law, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) will appoint a replacement for the next two years, and then a special election on Nov. 3, 2026, will determine who will serve until the term expires in 2029. However, the billionaire biotech entrepreneur has is said to be running for the governorship.
