Commanders inactive list for NFC Divisional Round game against Lions

The Washington Commanders can’t afford to have any passengers for their biggest test of the campaign so far. Going on the road for the Detroit Lions is tough enough at the best of times. This gets even worse when the stakes get higher in the playoffs.

No one expects the commanders to win. They are almost double-digit underdogs with sportsbooks all over the country. Not many in the national media give them a chance to be competitive. But this team has a lot of fight and will not go down.

This season has been a dream for fans who are more accustomed to scrutinizing mock drafts and potential free-agent additions this time of year. The new regime changed all this, bringing hope where once there was nothing but grim misery.

Who says this Cinderella story can’t go into the NFC Conference championship game with a little luck on their side?

Washington has a nearly clean bill of health, which is always a bonus. There are a few concerns, but no one wanted to miss the Commanders’ first divisional round playoff game in nearly 7,000 days.

Daron Payne is good to go despite the defensive tackle suffering a gruesome dislocated finger in their Wild Card triumph at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His presence will be needed to limit Detroit’s unusual rushing attack.

Cornerback Marshon Lattimore does not carry an injury designation in the contest. He should benefit from another week of full practice under his belt. How healthy his hamstring is remains to be seen, but he will give it another shot.

Only one player was officially banned. Rookie linebacker Jordan Magee’s stop-start campaign continued after suffering a hamstring problem. Undrafted free agent tight end Colson Yankoff and veteran second-tier tight end Mykal Walker are listed as questionable. Other than that, it’s all systems go.

It’s a good problem for commanders to have. It also presented Quinn and his coaching staff with complex conundrums as to who to leave out of such a crucial clash.

With that in mind, let’s look at the inactive players for both teams at Ford Field.
