2025 arctic blast: New York City, Tri-State brace for bitter cold after winter blizzard

RIVERDALE, Bronx (WABC) — Crews clean up streets across the Tri-State after the snowfall.

Right now there is still a state of emergency.

And here in the city, some communities were hit by heavier snow than others.

The snow started around 2pm in the city on Sunday. It started as a light dusting but gradually increased as the day went on.

Plows hit the streets to clear roads after two inches fell across the city. Some areas got up to four inches.

The snow removal trucks are set to continue their work throughout the morning.

With snowfall out of the way, people around the New York City metro area are now seeing dangerous arctic cold air.

The cold wave is set to settle across the Tri-State for several days, which will keep snow around and increase the potential for slippery roads and black ice.
