Where to buy the next fourth wing book

The Empyrean series has quickly become one of the most popular books of the past few years thanks to a unique premise and boost from TikTok, where the series first went viral. Fourth Wing, the book that started the series, has been on Amazon’s bestseller list since 2023 and hasn’t really left since. Actually pre-orders for the latest book in the series from Rebecca YarrosOnyx Storm, indeed they were number two bestseller on Amazon in 2024.

Onyx Storm will be officially released on Tuesday, January 21stand pre-orders are currently discounted on Amazon. Plus, if you haven’t already read the first two books, you can access them for free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription for a limited time.

What is the Empyrean series about?

Before I read the series, I had a friend recommend Fourth Wing to me by describing the premise as “As the Harry Potter booksbut with dragons”. I was surprised to find that, while this was true in the early stages of the book, it quickly began to resemble the Twilight series more and more. It is essentially a magical, fantasy-romance novel that stays very graphically with the details.

The story follows Violet Sorrengail, a seemingly fragile young girl who has been forced by her powerful mother to enter the very dangerous academy of dragon riders. While finding ways to overcome her weaknesses and survive, Violet must also battle her own complex feelings about her mother, her old friend, and a boy she believes wants nothing more than to see her dead. All the while, there is more going on with the dragons and her world than meets the eye, and she finds herself at the center of it all while in the heat of an epic romance.
