On almost any given play during the College Football Playoff National Championship between no. 7 Notre Dame and no. 8 Ohio Statethere’s a good chance at least one — probably more — Florida wide receivers will be on the field.

Of the combined 12 players from the Sunshine State on the two teams’ rosters, seven are wide receivers.

The list is headed by Ohio State true freshman star Jeremiah Smith (Chaminade-Madonna), who is seventh in the nation with 1,227 receiving yards and tied for third in the nation with 14 touchdown catches.

Smith’s 17.3 yards per carry. reception is the highest in the nation among players who caught at least 63 passes.

Smith’s Ohio State teammate Carnell Tate (IMG Academy) enters the game with 50 receptions and four touchdowns. He led the Buckeyes with seven catches for 87 yards in the national semifinal win against Texas.

Tate was one of three four-star Florida receivers Ohio State signed in the 2023 class.

Notre Dame receivers include Jordan Faison (Pine Crest) and Kris Mitchell (Mandarin). Faison led all receivers with seven catches for 89 yards against Indiana in the first round of the playoffs.

Jersey Number: 6

The sophomore from Pine Crest is a scholarship lacrosse player at Notre Dame who moved on to the football team. The 2023 Sun Bowl MVP has 29 catches for 350 yards and a touchdown this season.

WR Kris Mitchell

Jersey Number: 10

A senior from Mandarin High School, Mitchell is in his first year at Notre Dame after transferring from FIU. Mitchell has 20 catches for 208 yards and two touchdowns this season.

WR Jack Polian

Jersey Number: 81

Polian, a senior walk-on, graduated from Ponte Verda in 2021. He has played in two games this season.

LB Three reader

Jersey Number: 33

A junior walk-on, Reader was the leading tackler for Berkeley Prep in 2021 as the Buccaneers reached the Class 3A state championship game. Reader has appeared in five games and has two tackles this season.

DL Sean Sevillano Jr.

Jersey Number: 59

Sevillano, who grew up in Canada, is a true freshman who starred at Clearwater Academy International. Sevillano has four tackles in three games this season.

K Jayden Fielding

Jersey Number: 37

Fielding, a junior, walked on at Ohio State after graduating from IMG Academy in 2022. Fielding is 11 of 15 on field goal attempts with a long of 46 yards and made all 69 extra point attempts this season.

WR Brandon Innis

Jersey Number: 11

Inniss, a sophomore, was one All-American at Plantation-American Heritage. He has caught 13 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown this season.

EDGE Kenyatta Jackson Jr.

Jersey Number: 97

Jackson, a junior, was an Under Armor All-American at Chaminade-Madonna in 2021. He has 14 tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble this season.

WR Bryson Rodgers

Jersey number: 13

Rodgers, who was born in Ohio, was a four-star recruit from Wiregrass Ranch in the 2023 class. The sophomore has caught five passes for 46 yards this season.

S Leroy Roker III

Jersey Number: 28

The true freshman was a three-star recruit at Bishop Verot in 2024. Roker has not played this season.

WR Jeremiah Smith

Jersey number: 4

Smith, a Chaminade-Madonna graduate, put together a true freshman season for the ages and was named MVP of the Rose Bowl. The top-ranked player on the 2024 USA Today Florida Network top 100 and consensus no. 1 player in the nation, has 71 catches for 1,227 yards and 15 offensive touchdowns.

WR Carnell Tate

Jersey Number: 17

Tate was a four-star recruit at IMG Academy in 2023. He ranks third among Ohio State receivers in catches (50), receiving yards (698) and touchdown catches (4).
