FC Barcelona’a Olmo and Pau Victor are finally allowed to play

FC Barcelona has finally received a positive result regarding the previously rejected registrations of its players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, who confirmed by the Sports Council of Spain often referred to as the CSD.

The CSD said in a statement on Wednesday that it had granted “the urgent security measure requested by FC Barcelona and the players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor”.

“This measure, which is provisional until the appeal filed by the club and the aforementioned players is finally decided, suspends the agreement between the monitoring committee of the RFEF-LaLiga coordination agreement, dated January 4, 2025, and the cancellation of the sports licenses of the aforementioned players, ” CSD explained.

“Similarly, it maintains the validity of the said licenses until this appeal is finally decided.

“To meet this urgent security measure, the CSD has analyzed the 52-page appeal and the more than 60 documents that accompany it.

“In their argument, FC Barcelona, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor point out that the monitoring committee is exclusively assigned the functions of interpreting the application of the clauses of the RFEF-LaLiga coordination agreement, monitoring compliance with the agreement and promoting any other activities that tend to to make the agreement more effective,” it added.

The CSD further said that it “observed the possible coincidence of a cause of full invalidity and the existence of immediate and difficult to repair damages which would affect the rights recognized in the current sports law of the footballers Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor and their legal security”.

This led to the conclusion that, according to Article 27 of the Spanish Sports Law, professional athletes have the right “to a sporting career in accordance with their potential and with all guarantees and security”.

“At this time, FC Barcelona and its players are immersed in the Spanish Super Cup, the first official title of the season, with worldwide visibility and impact, and in which only the teams that have had the best performance in national competitions in the previous year participate.

“CSD believes that failure to adopt this security measure will cause serious financial and sporting damage to the club and, above all, to the players. This may also harm the interests of the Spanish national team, as well as the rest of the Spanish national team. national competitions, including La League. Finally, the CSD emphasizes that this decision does not preempt the substantive issues raised in the appeal,” it concluded.

Although Olmo and Pau Victor will not be able to take part in Wednesday night’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club, they should be allowed to take part in a potential final against Real Madrid or RCD Mallorca this weekend, assuming Barca come through the Basques.
