  • A state of emergency remains in effect for the city and county of Los Angeles on Wednesday as at least four fires continue to burn out of control in the area, buffeted by a devastating windstorm.
  • The Palisades Fire, which began Monday in Pacific Palisades, sparked by a backyard fire, has destroyed an untold number of homes and displaced thousands, continues to burn, with new evacuation warnings issued for Malibu.
  • The Eaton fire near Altadena has burned at least 10,000 acres, also leaving a devastating trail of burned homes as it spread rapidly through foothill neighborhoods Wednesday morning. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated.
  • Schools across the region have been canceled Wednesday, and officials encourage parents to check with their campus or district for current status changes.
