Cincinnati Public Schools will reopen on Thursday, January 9th

Cincinnati Public Schools students will return to the classroom Thursday, the school district said Wednesday night.

The announcement came despite the forecast showing low wind chill values ​​for Thursday morning.

“Reminder: All CPS schools and the central office WILL be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 9, 2025,” the district posted to Facebook.

Wind chill values ​​in Hamilton County are expected to be as low as -5 to -12 between midnight and Thursday. according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The agency issued a cold weather advisory for all of Greater Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Public Schools have been closed for about 2 ⅟₂ weeks due to winter break as well as inclement weather.

The district told The Enquirer that a decision was made taking into account many factors, including but not limited to the weather, the amount of time students have been out of school and the students’ family situation.

Boone County Schools and Kenton County School District will be closed Thursday, the districts announced on social media. The Kenton County School District said on X that schools are closed due to several roads being inaccessible for bus travel.
