American Airlines plane clips United flight at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport

A plane clipped the tail cone of a United Airlines flight at O’Hare International Airport Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration said the American Airlines plane was sitting on the taxiway waiting to take off when the other plane made contact with the tail cone around 10 p.m. 9:50.

The United flight was bound for Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii. The American Airlines flight was on its way to Los Angeles.

No injuries were reported. The United Boeing 787 flight had 293 passengers and 10 crew members.

A call to the Chicago Fire Department was made at 10:10 for the incident.

The aircraft was inspected by United’s maintenance team. Another flight will take the passengers to their destination on Wednesday afternoon.
