Where is Jim Cantore? Not in Texas, but in Nashville ahead of a big winter storm

Whether it’s hurricanes, brutal tropical storms, or in this case, massive amounts of snow in parts of the southpeople start the game of, “Where in the US is Jim Cantore?”

For some it’s a fun game, for others it’s a warning sign to get out of town when Cantore comes around. And just before the winter storm system expected to hit the south, the longtime Weather Channel meteorologist was spotted not in Texas, but in downtown Nashville.

Cantore published on Xformerly known as Twitter, that Lower Broadway was being prepared for the upcoming winter storm that threatens to dump upwards of six inches of snow on Music City and Middle Tennessee on Friday.

The post, originally posted by Weather Channel producer Steve Petyerakshared the news that Cantore was in town. And people now expect the worst.

“If there was anything left on the grocery store shelves, it’s gone now @JimCantore is in town. We all know what it means when he picks his spot for a weather event,” one person wrote.

Another user had two words that summed up the spotting well, “Oh boy.”

Winter Storm Warnings, Watches for Tennessee Communities

The Cantore spotting underscores just how bad this storm could be, especially for communities not used to seeing more than an inch or two of snow at any given time.

Thursday morning, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for communities in west and middle Tennesseeincluding the Nashville and Memphis metro areas.

“If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511. Individuals should consider delaying all travel . Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary,” read the latest forecast discussion from the National Weather Service.

East Tennessee and the Knoxville area are still under a winter storm watch from Friday 10 January at 10 ET through Saturday, January 11 at 7 A.M.

The storm is expected to hit Texas on Thursday before moving southeast on Friday, blanketing states across the South in everything from fluffy snow to sleet and ice.
