Warmer, dry weather as the Wolf Moon arrives

High pressure will remain in control for most of this week, and while temperatures will be a bit milder to start, we have more cold air moving in.

Boston received 1.8 inches of snow over the weekend, bringing the total so far this season to 7½ inches, which is exactly 50 percent of what you would now expect. Remember, snowfall is very erratic, so the fact that it’s half the average is, to be honest, pretty meaningless.

A quick major snowstorm will bring us back or even above average if that were to happen.

Today it will be sunny and dry with high temperatures of around 40 degrees.

Take advantage of clear skies tonight with the full wolf moon rising in the east at sunset. As the moon gets higher in the sky, it’s an opportunity to see Mars, which is pretty bright, pretty much next to the full moon. This is a beautiful sight and for those of you who might be photographers, it is an opportunity to get a nice picture.

The dry weather is set to continue throughout the work week with temperatures easing tomorrow. It will be around 10 degrees colder on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

As the gradient tightens again, Tuesday’s winds will pick up and it will be breezy Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. It won’t be quite as windy as it was last week, but it’s still going to feel colder than the actual temperature.

It will be cooler and windier Tuesday, although it will remain relatively dry in southern New England.Boston Globe

Conditions will start to warm up as we head into the weekend, and there could be some precipitation here Saturday or Saturday night. It is likely that it will actually be too warm for snow and we may see some rain instead.

Finally, civil twilight in the afternoon is now after 17. This means you can get outside and take advantage of an afternoon ride until then.

Southern New England: Look for dry conditions over the next few days. It will be close to 40 in the afternoon today with sunshine.

Western Fair: Lots of sunshine over the area today with temperatures in the 30s. Tonight it will be clear.

Cape and Islands: Possible cloudy mornings will drop and temperatures will be near 40 this afternoon.

Northern New England: Look for temperatures just above freezing this afternoon with a few snow showers in the hilly terrain.
