Why an Eagles fan was banned from games, fired from his job and subjected to major shaming on social media

PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia Eagles fan was banned from games, fired from his job and heavily shamed on social media after last weekend’s win over the Packers.

What happened

The Eagles hosted the Packers on Sunday night in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Philadelphia had no trouble on the field, jumping out to an early lead and beating Green Bay 22-10.

But that result became an afterthought for most of the world when video surfaced of an Eagles fan heckling a Packers fan inside Lincoln Financial Field.

In the video, a woman wearing Packers gear celebrates a replay review, and a man in Eagles gear in the row behind starts taunting her.

The man, later identified as Ryan Caldwell, called the woman an “ugly, stupid c—.”

When the woman’s fiance, who filmed the interaction, told Caldwell not to talk to her like that, Caldwell said, “You wanna do something? Shut the f— up.”

Video of interaction goes viral

Millions of people watched the exchange after the woman’s fiance posted it on social media.

Fans from both teams condemned Caldwell’s behavior along with thousands of others, and that’s when people started trying to identify him.

More than 10 million people watched the video on X within 24 hours.

Caldwell banned

The Philadelphia Eagles quickly banned Caldwell from attending future events at the stadium, according to the New York Post.

That includes not only Eagles games, but concerts and other events.

Caldwell fired from the job

The social media investigators who identified Caldwell learned he worked at BCT Partners, a DEI-focused management consulting firm in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

The company released a statement Tuesday, saying in part: “We have decided to terminate the employee. … We condemn in the strongest terms the conduct of our former employee. This individual’s behavior and language was disgusting, disgusting, unacceptable and appalling and has no place in our workplace and society.”
