Shooting near Mishawaka High School leaves one dead and causes a one-hour lockout during the game

A victim shot at a home across the street from Mishawaka High School has died.

The shooting on Indiana Avenue happened at approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night.

This caused the school to shut down as a girls’ basketball game was being played at the time.

The blockade lasted about an hour.

Police were initially told the victim was a baby, but that turned out not to be the case.

The city’s Major Crimes Unit blocked off large sections of Indiana Avenue and Homewood.

They are not releasing the name of the victim, anything about a suspect or what happened.
