But from

A message from the BHA Stewards on X then confirmed that the seven-race jumps meeting had been abandoned.

It is believed that the jockeys were concerned about the condition of the track given the low temperatures.

Racing TV presenter Stewart Machin said: “Officials were of the view that with a revised race times, but several jockeys have expressed concern about the conditions.

“There are already several withdrawn horses.”

It turned out that an area of shade caused by the grandstand had left part of the turf frozen.

Tom Evetts. The BHA steward said: “There is still frost in the ground and there is too much risk to continue.

“We thought the temperatures would improve enough, but they just haven’t, unfortunately.

“It’s bright blue skies and sunshine, but the expected warmer temperatures have unfortunately not materialized.

“We didn’t feel the need for an inspection at first, just pushed the race times back.

“But the more we heard, the more it became clear that the jockey and trainers were not happy.

“We had a proper look at the racecourse, made a decision and unfortunately it has been to abandon the race.”
