American Danielle Collins went full villain mode at the Aussie Open last night as she kissed and taunted the booing crowds before thanking the haters for her ‘big fat paycheck’

American tennis player Danielle Collins prides herself on being unapologetically authentic. On the field, it’s always a rollercoaster, and that’s mainly because she wears her emotions on her sleeve. It’s been that way since she first came on tour, and you have to appreciate that. She is different. In a sport built on courtesy, respect and etiquette, she tends to go against the grain. Collins had to struggle from the moment she first started playing on tour and had to win to afford basic expenses. Danielle grew up living in Florida in a lower middle class family. Her father has run his own landscaping business cutting down trees and mowing lawns for years. She is blue collar and does not give a single trick.

Last night at the Australian Open epitomized that as she took on Destanee Aiava, an Australian native, and as a result the entire crowd. As you can imagine, Collins was contested by the crowd. As the night wore on, the fans in attendance became increasingly rowdy.

As Collins won the match in three sets, she continued to give it all back to the fans. Pure villain shit. Blowing them kisses, taunting them, even telling them to kiss her ass.

Boy does that look like fun. That hatred continued to pour out more and more during her post-match interview.

Some people aren’t built to be the heel, but Danielle Collins was born to be.

Sometimes it can be a bit much with what ticks her off, and she comes off as a big Karen. I was on the court in San Diego once for her finals match and she lost track of the crowd as they really didn’t do much. In other cases like this, it’s exactly what we need. If you have hate in your heart, let it out and enjoy it.

She will face fellow American Madison Keys in the 3rd round. I have a feeling I know who the audience is getting behind.
