Malik Monk injury status and update ahead of Kings’ game against Houston Rockets

The fever dream is finally over in Sacramento as the Kings, after winning seven games in a row, are finally back in the loss column after suffering a 130-115 loss at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now the Kings will look to start another winning streak in tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets. But who do they want available? And who will the Rockets have in their lineup tonight? Here’s the full injury report ahead of this Western Conference clash.

Sacramento Kings injury report

After an unfortunate start to the season, the Kings have mostly managed to stay healthy since then. Tonight, however, is the rare exception to the rule as the team has three players listed on their injury report.

The player you’re probably most curious about is Malik Monk – the Kings’ dynamic combo guard who missed the team’s loss to the Bucks with a groin injury. Fortunately, it looks like he is back for tonight’s game as he is currently listed as probable for the game. For reference, when a player is listed as “likely” for a game, it usually means they have about a 75% chance of playing.

Outside of Monk, the other names on the injury report are Devin Carter and Jordan McLaughlin (per Basketball Reference). Carter is listed as questionable (so a 50/50 chance to play) with left shoulder soreness. Remember, Carter’s left shoulder is the one he had surgery on in the offseason. Meanwhile, McLaughlin is out for tonight’s game for personal reasons.

Houston Rockets injury report

Coincidentally, the Rockets also have three names on their Basketball Reference injury report. The big injury for them is the one they suffered from their starting forward: Jabari Smith Jr. Smith suffered a left metacarpal fracture a few weeks ago and will be out another two to six weeks.

Outside of Smith, the Rockets will be without Jock Landale, who, like McLaughlin, is out for personal reasons. Finally, Tari Eason has missed the team’s last 13 games with what is being characterized as a “lower leg injury.” He is listed as questionable for this game, giving him approximately a 25% chance to play.

After tonight’s game, the Kings will have two days off before playing the Washington Wizards on Sunday, January 19.
