Cold weather changes Jacksonville’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade schedules

Jacksonville’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade scheduled for Monday, one of many events in the area to honor the slain civil rights leader, has been postponed as a precaution due to expected cold temperatures.

City Hall spokesman Phillip Perry said organizers contacted the Sheriff’s Office, Fire and Rescue and other city officials about weather concerns. The parade will be rescheduled, he said.

A low temperature of 32 is expected Sunday night, rising to the mid-40s Monday, according to National Weather Service.

The parade was to begin at 10 at EverBank Stadium, winding through downtown and ending at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.
