I-29 closed from Grand Forks to the Canadian border

GRAND FORKS, ND (Valley News Live) – The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol closed Interstate 29 from Grand Forks to the Canadian border due to blowing snow, icy road conditions and near zero visibility.

Motorists must not travel on a closed road due to life-threatening conditions. A No Travel Advisory is in place for several counties in northeastern North Dakota.

Motorists should be warned that secondary roads across North Dakota may be blocked or impassable due to the significant snowfall and high winds creating severe snowdrifts on highways. Snowdrifts are more prevalent near structures and sheltered areas. Vehicles may become stranded and emergency personnel may not be able to reach you safely.

For more information on road conditions across North Dakota, call 511 or visit the ND Roads map attravel.dot.nd.gov.

Please note that information on road conditions on 511 and the travel card is updated daily from 05.00 to 10 p.m. CDT. The road report is based on the information available to NDDOT at the time of preparation and is provided solely as a public service. Conditions may vary from those reported.
