Is Anthony Davis playing tonight? Injury updates for Lakers superstar

The Los Angeles Lakers will go for their second straight win and move closer to moving into fifth place in the Western Conference when they host Brooklyn Nets on Friday.

The Lakers, who have a 21-17 record, ended a three-game losing streak Wednesday by overcoming a 66-54 halftime deficit to defeat the Miami Heat 117-108. After playing the Nets, they will visit the Los Angeles Clippers, who are currently in fifth place, on Sunday, making the next two games very important for them.

Unfortunately, the Lakers will be without not only Dorian Finney-Smith, who just welcomed his first child to his family, but also Anthony Davis on Friday. Davis has been ruled out due to a case of plantar fasciitis he’s been dealing with for weeks.

The good news for the Lakers is that Brooklyn has a 14-27 record and has lost 17 of its last 22 games. Perhaps this will open up an opportunity for Trey Jemison III, a 6-foot-10 center the Lakers signed to a two-way contract this week, to get some playing time.
