Texans’ Kris Boyd pushes special teams coach Frank Ross

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Houston Texans defensive back Kris Boyd pushed special teams coach Frank Ross after the opening kickoff of the divisional round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.

On the opening kickoff, Chiefs running back Samaje Perine returned the kick 63 yards before Boyd tackled him and forced a fumble. Chiefs wideout Nikko Remigio recovered the loose ball.

But before the recovery, Boyd sprinted off in celebratory fashion, tossing his helmet before reaching the sideline. He drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that got the Chiefs’ offense starting at Houston’s 13-yard line.

Ross approached Boyd on the court, but Boyd pushed Ross.

The Chiefs ended their opening drive with a field goal, and the Texans responded with a field goal.

Boyd was not benched and he returned to special teams play after the hit.
