Stephen A. Smith sends Jason Kelce and the ESPN crew a message as he braves the Kansas City cold at the Chiefs-Texans game

Travis Kelce’s girlfriend isn’t the only loved one the Kansas City Chiefs star will have at Saturday’s playoff game against the visiting Houston Texans.

In his capacity as a NFL analyst for ESPNTravis’ brother Jason Kelce has arrived at Arrowhead Stadium for the Central Division Round where wind chill temperatures hovered around 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Are you guys okay?” ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith asked Kelce and the network’s NFL crew from the warmth and safety indoors. ‘How do you hang in the COLD. I’ll be watching and praying for you guys…….in warmer weather, of course. Enjoy.’

Dressed in a red and black lumberjack coat with a matching winter hat, the elder Kelce strolled into Arrowhead with a hot cup of coffee so he didn’t seem too bothered by the weather.

Taylor Swift would arrive with her own security moments then followed by Travis.

Relatively speaking, Jason and Taylor were fairly late arrivals for the 4:30pm EST kickoff compared to Chiefs fans, some of whom came to Arrowhead on Friday night.

Chiefs Kingdom couldn’t wait for Arrowhead Stadium’s parking lot to open Saturday morning ahead of Kansas City’s divisional-round playoff game with the visiting Houston Texans.

Not only was there bumper-to-bumper traffic at the Truman Sports Complex more than eight hours before kickoff, but some contestants actually arrived at the gate Friday night, as seen in a clip from KCTV’s Mark Poulose.

“Fire already getting ready for the brats,” a Chiefs fan told the reporter as he lifted the helmet-shaped lid of his grill.

These gentlemen were soon joined by thousands of others, as is seen in one clip ESPN’s Jeff Darlington posted on social media.

“The obligatory video of Chiefs fans lining up outside the Arrowhead gates 8.5 hours before the game to tailgate in 18 degree weather,” Darlington wrote on X.

Of course, this has become something of a January tradition right off I-70. The Chiefs haven’t lost a home playoff game since the AFC Championship in January 2022, when Patrick Mahomes & Co. fell to the visiting Cincinnati Bengals.

And with the team’s continued success, fans have turned every playoff game into an all-day vacation.

‘I’m so KC, I woke up EARLY knowing #ChiefsKingdom was already waiting outside the Arrowhead gates,’ one fan wrote on X. ‘#tradition.’

And the weather once again fails to deter Chiefs fans who want to eat and drink in a parking lot for eight hours before kickoff at 3:30 p.m. (local time).

As of Saturday morning, temperatures were around 19 degrees Fahrenheit. However, there could be gusts from 30 to 35 mph, according to KSHB meteorologist Jeff Penner.
