Where to park in Downtown Detroit, how to get to Ford Field during Lions playoff game

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions will host the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round on Saturday, January 18.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m., but most fans want to arrive early to get a good parking spot or grab a bite to eat before the game.

To plan ahead, here is a list of public parking lots where fans can potentially park on Saturday. Remember that most of these places have a cost – so make sure you have cash, an app or a secure credit card ready to use.

Downtown Detroit

Visit Detroit has a list of parking garages open to the public. Prices will vary and will most likely change the day of a game or special event in the area – such as Saturday’s game against the Commanders.

The Z garage – Biblioteksgade 1234

You can enter from Gratiot near the Library or on the Grand River near Broadway.

Greektown parking garage – 1001 Brush Street

This underground car park with 24/7 security is located near Greektown and Campus Martius.

A Campus Martius parking garage – 1188 Farmer Street

The One Campus Martius parking garage is connected to the One Campus Martius building and the Detroit People Mover. It is one block away from Campus Martius Park and Woodward Avenue.

A Detroit and Two Detroits parking garages – 200 Larned Street, 160 E Congress Street

These two are next to each other near the one Detroit building. They are located near the Renaissance Center and the Campus Martius.

Kennedy Square Garage – 720 Griswold Street

This underground garage is located just across Campus Martius and is close to downtown restaurants.

Close to Ford Field

These parking garages’ availability may be extremely limited as the divisional playoff game on Saturday will be one of the busiest nights in town. The payment may fluctuate before the match.

  • Trinity Health Garage (165 Sproat Street) – 0.7 miles from Ford Field.

  • Temple West Garage (123 Temple Street) — 0.8 miles from Ford Field.

  • 2501 Cass Avenue — 0.7 miles from Ford Field.

  • 2756 Cass Avenue – 0.8 miles from Ford Field.

  • 2721 Cass Avenue — 0.8 miles from Ford Field.

  • 2961 Second Lot — 1 mile from Ford Field.

  • 2955 Cass Avenue — 1.2 miles from Ford Field.

Parking can be booked in advance using ParkWhiz.

Public transportation to Ford Field

If you’ve scored a parking spot a short distance away from Ford Field, there is some public transportation that can easily get you to the Lions game.

Detroit People Mover

If you park in the Downtown Detroit area, you can hop on the Detroit People Mover for free, which travels around Downtown.

The stop closest to Ford Field is on Broadway Street. The station is approximately seven minutes’ walk from the stadium.

QLine

The Qline is a streetcar that runs up and down Woodward Avenue from New Center/Northend to Downtown Detroit.

Woodward is not too far away from Ford Field; you could get off at the Montcalm Street stop on the Qline and walk to Ford Field from there. It is about a six minute walk from the stop to Ford Field.

It costs nothing to drive on Qline.

Opening hours:

  • Monday to Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m

  • Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m
