One of Memphis’ newest music stars will make his “Saturday Night Live” debut this weekend.

The sketch comedy show celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and GloRilla will appear as the musical guest on the Jan. 18 episode hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle.

This performance will see GloRilla join six other Memphis music stars who have appeared on “SNL” over the years.

Where is GloRilla from?

GloRilla is a Memphis native. She grew up in the city and attended Westside Middle School, as well as Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School before eventually graduating from Melrose High.

In 2022, she returned to her alma mater Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School to donate $25,000, and in December 2024 she returned to Melrose High School to do the same there.

What are some of GloRilla’s songs?

GloRilla first entered the mainstream with her song “FNF (Let’s Go)” in 2022, when her song reached no. 42 on Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, she released “Tomorrow” featuring Cardi B, which reached No. 9 on the Hot 100.

Her highest Hot 100 charting song over the years is “Tomorrow”, which peaked at No. 9, “Wanna Be” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, which peaked at no. 11, “Whatchu Kno About Me” featuring Sexyy Red, which peaked at no. 17, and “TGIF” which peaked at no. 22.

GloRilla’s success in 2024
