Update: Oswego County under a winter storm watch Monday through Wednesday

Saturday at At 5:23 p.m., the National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm watch effective Monday at 13.00 to Wednesday at 7 for Oswego County.

The weather service states to forecast, “Heavy lake-effect snow possible. Significant accumulations possible in the most persistent lake snows.”

“The potential exists for a significant prolonged lake effect snow event. There is significant uncertainty regarding exact band location and amounts, but several periods of heavy snow are possible. Travel could be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow on roads, the weather service said. “During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibility to dry conditions just a few kilometers away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility and road conditions.”
