Temperatures below normal forecast for MLK Day in the Phoenix area

PHOENIX (AZ family) — Temperatures will remain slightly below normal for Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the mid-60s.

It will be a chilly start with temperatures in the 30s tomorrow morning across the valley.

A dry weather system will move across the region and kick up the winds, mainly in western Arizona. A wind advisory is in effect Monday and Tuesday along the California-Arizona border, including Lake Havasu and Yuma, where winds could gust up to 45 mph.

This will also leave our state with cold morning lows, near freezing, for the deserts Tuesday and Wednesday morning, so bundle up!

We are stuck between two different systems: a trough over most of the central and eastern US, with a ridge of high pressure to our west.

While much of the US deals with the big impacts of this Arctic air, we’ll cool down to the lower 60s Tuesday, then return to the mid-60s Wednesday, and we’ll be back in the 70s in the weekend.

A system could bring a very small chance of rain over the next weekend, we will keep a close eye on this and be the first to alert you of any changes.
