When it comes to watching film, coaches and players not only watch opponents to learn different tendencies, but also to add some tricks and plays to their own playbook.

It looks like Chip Kelly went back to the well and watched the 2020 national championship game — a game in which Alabama beat Ohio State, 52-24 — for Jeremiah Smith’s 8-yard touchdown reception from Will Howard to The Buckeyes’ first score of the game on Monday night.

Just as Gee Scott Jr. went into motion, Notre Dame’s defense was immediately confused, causing the defensive back opposite Smith to jump up and point. It didn’t matter, though, as the freshman phenom had a wide-open lane to the end zone.
