A portion of westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix was closed Wednesday morning for a shooting near 75th Avenue, authorities said.

This is stated by the police in Phoenix in a video published on Xearlier on Twitter that a fatal shooting occurred near 75th Avenue on the I-10 freeway. An unidentified man died at the scene from his injuries. Another unidentified man was arrested and is cooperating, Phoenix Police Sergeant Brian Bower said in the video.

Westbound I-10 is closed near Loop 202 and the I-10 interchange, starting at 67th Avenue and extending until 91st Avenue, authorities said.

The eastbound HOV lane was also closed near 75th Avenue because of the incident, a Department of Transportation spokesman said. The HOV lane closed around 8.45 and remained closed from 11.40

The shooting happened around 8 a.m. and police are actively investigating.

The Department of Transportation, Police Department and Department of Public Safety did not provide an estimated time for reopening the westbound lanes. A spokesman for the Department of Public Safety said there will be an “extended closure” of I-10 near 75th Avenue.

The agency said traffic is being detoured onto Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) and drivers should expect delays.
