Oconee Co. Coroner identifies man found dead under bridge

OCONEE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) – Saturday night, the Oconee County Coroner’s Office said they are investigating the death of a man found under a bridge.

According to the coroner, he was found under the bridge span on Blackjack Road, which crosses Lake Hartwell near Foxwood Hills.

The coroner said he is believed to have died on Friday.

According to the coroner, the man fell down the embankment next to the lake, but was not found in the lake itself.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

According to the coroner, the E-911 Communications Center received a call around 9:44 a.m. Saturday about an unresponsive man under the bridge.

The manner and cause of death have not yet been released.

Oconee County deputies said they are continuing the investigation but believe there is no danger to the public.

The coroner identified the man as Richard Christian Craig of the Westminster and Fair Play area. He was 21 years old.
