Houston forecast: Frost Tuesday morning; rain chances

After another freezing morning with some spots falling into the mid-20s, Tuesday is actually looking pretty nice.

It will be chilly, but with sunshine and very dry air it will be pleasant. Look for another freezing point Tuesday night followed by rising clouds and therefore another chilly day tomorrow.

Snow threat for Dallas, chance of heavy rain for Houston

Trouble arrives Thursday and early Friday with a winter storm that begins in West Texas and sweeps east, bringing a severe snow threat to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and heavy, cold rain to Houston.

The tricky part is where the rain/snow line gives a chance for ice. All day Thursday and especially Friday morning, there could be icing, especially north of College Station and Huntsville. It’s very unlikely to be a problem in the Houston metropolitan area, and no snow is expected, but sleet may mix with the rain.

There is a risk of heavy rain, especially near the coast Thursday and early Friday.
