Chamblee football announces hiring of NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed

Chamblee (Ga.) will have a new offensive coordinator for the 2025 season.

On Monday, the Bulldogs announced the addition of NFL Hall of Fame defensive back Ed Reed to the Chamblee coaching staff.

Reed, a former Miami Hurricanes football player and first-round draft pick, was a Super Bowl champion, nine-time Pro Bowler and All-Decade Team honoree. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.

Now he will get the chance to coach the offensive side of the ball.

Previously, Reed served as defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills. He then worked as the Miami Hurricanes’ chief of football staff for two years.

In December 2022, Reed was hired as the next head coach of the Bethune-Cookman. After Reed was publicly critical of the school’s athletic facilities, Bethune-Cookman chose not to ratify the contract in January 2023.

As a player, Reed recorded 64 interceptions – a three-time NFL interception leader. He tied the record for most career playoff interceptions at nine, holds the record for longest interception return (107-yard touchdown) and is the only player in NFL history to score touchdowns by interception, fumble recovery, blocked punt and punt return.

Reed also holds the NFL records for blocked punts returned for touchdowns (three) and multi-interception games (12).

Chamblee is looking to get back to winning ways

In the 2024 high school football season, Chamblee finished with a brutal 2-8 record with wins against 4-8 Atlanta Lakeside and 2-8 Lithonia Arabia Mountain. Three of their eight defeats came within one score.

The Dawgs are looking for their first winning season since 2022.

Chamblee has produced several FBS-caliber football players over the years, including a pair of blue-chip prospects: former pro football EDGE Davin Bellamy and Georgia Tech Hall of Fame offensive lineman Omoregia Uzzi.
