Some customers still haven’t been paid

Days after Capital One customers began reporting problems getting their paychecks and accessing other account features, some customers are still in the dark.

Capital One said in a statement to USA TODAY Friday morning that the company is working closely with its third-party vendor to resolve the issue.

“System recovery is in progress but not yet fully operational,” the statement read. “We apologize to our customers for this continued inconvenience.”

Before Friday’s statement, Capital One said the company was having trouble making deposits and processing payments for some consumer, small business and commercial banks.

USA TODAY contacted FIS Global, Capital One’s service provider involved in the outage, on Friday morning. FIS Global said it has “restored access to the applications affected by the outage.”

The company said it is working with affected customers to end transactions submitted while the systems were offline. The company said most or all of the processing should happen Friday.

What problems are Capital One customers facing?

Users started reporting problems on Thursday. Just after 9 Friday, nearly 4,000 customers had reported problems over the past 24 hours, according to Down Detector. Most reports – 91% – dealt with approx deposit.

This week, Capital One shared a statement on X, formerly Twitter, about the outage.

“We know it’s important to have your money when you need it, so we’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we appreciate your patience while we work to get this resolved,” company posted Thursday afternoon.

The post encouraged customers to flood the profile with a demand for an answer.

“What is there to fix?” a customer answered and wanted to know why the solution takes so long. “My money hasn’t come through since Wednesday! I have to pay off my (explosive) mortgage! I have to pay for gas! I have to feed my children! I called and was hung up on after entering all my information! Something is very wrong!”

The company responded to another customer and called the problem a “temporary” problem.

But the customers had a refusal and noted that the problem has been going on for three days.

Others chose to call the company out publicly with a sprinkling of sarcasm.

“What have you got in your purse?” one asked X userthat alludes to the company’s slogan. “No problem if you bank with Capital One.”
