Of course, there are plenty of celebrations ahead of the decisive match.

Chief among them is the national anthem, which always plays an important role before championship matches. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium welcomes a famous singer for the honor. Past championships have included Fantasia, Pentatonix and Natalie Grant as national anthems.

Coco Jones will sing the national anthem at the national championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame on Monday night. Jones, 27, is an R&B singer with seven career Grammy nominations and a victory.

“America the Beautiful,” which closes before Jones’ national anthem, will be performed by the Spelman College Glee Club, which is the oldest collegiate chorus of African-American women in the country.

According to a College Football Playoff press release, 14-year-old Johrgia Peaches, an 8th grader from Newnan, Georgia, will perform “America the Beautiful” in American Sign Language (ASL). Alexander Charlot, 20, will perform the “Star-Spangled Banner” in ASL. Both attend the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf (AASD).

Who is Coco Jones?

Jones is an accomplished R&B singer with several Grammy nominations and one win. She won the 2024 Grammy for her song “ICU,” beating out fellow nominees Chris Brown, Robert Glasper, SZA and Victoria MonĂ©t.

She is also the daughter of former NFL defensive end Mike Jones, who played nine seasons with the Cardinals, Patriots, Rams and Titans.

Jones got her start as a Disney Channel star, appearing in the TV series “So Random” and the movie “Let It Shine.” She also appears in the Peacock’s reboot of “Bel-Air,” a remake of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” which originally starred Will Smith.
