Dangerous cold prompts school closures across Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS — There are a number of school closings across Minnesota on Monday amid dangerously cold weather.

Canby Public Schools, Marshall Public Schools and Tracy Public Schools, among many others, will all be closed for the day. Many other schools across the state were previously scheduled to be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Extreme cold warnings are in effect across northern Minnesota until noon Tuesday. The rest of the state is under a cold weather advisory for the same time frame.

Monday could be the coldest morning of the winter, with temperatures below zero and chills around minus 30 in much of the state.
